RINA Grade AH36 Marine Steel Plate

AH36 steel plates are widely used in Marine engineering projects such as shipbuilding, offshore drilling platforms, offshore wind farms and submarine pipelines. AH36 steel plate adopts microalloying technology in the production process, by adding niobium, vanadium, titanium and other alloying elements, combined with control rolling process, fine grain, improve toughness.

Marine steel plate refers to the structural steel used in shipbuilding. It is considered Marine grade and must be able to resist the corrosive effects common in the water environment. To achieve this, special alloying elements are added to these grades to prevent corrosion. While most carbon steels are not suitable for Marine environments, there are several Marine grade carbon steels that have been approved by various associations for shipbuilding applications.



RINA AH36 steel is a hot rolled high strength steel. The higher strength RINA shipbuilding steel has 3 grades of 12 strengths, and AH36 is one of them. The yield strength of RINA AH36 steel plate is 315 MPa), and the ultimate tensile strength is 440-570 MPa. All RINA AH36 shipbuilding steel supplied by Gnee can be RINA certified.


RINA is a founding member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS), founded in 1968. The RINA fleet is recognized by approximately 116 international flag bodies. RINA offers integrated services for the composite transport cycle, including design, construction, shipyard management, inspection and testing of materials/components and periodic inspections to maintain ship classes for cargo, ferries, ro-ro ships, passenger ships, yachts, cruise ships, naval, LGN and other specialist carriers.

AH36 Marine Steel Plate Chemical Composition 

Grade D and E series (inlcuding AH32/36, DH32, DH36, EH32, EH36) shipbuilding steel plates require good low temperature toughness and good welding performance. The production high-strength shipbuilding steel plate needs to be normalized by means of controlled rolling and controlled cooling or heat treatment processes with more complete equipment. At the same time, the internal steel purity of the supplied billets is required to be high, especially the content of S, P, N, 0 and H in the steel should be strictly controlled.
