What is the difference between ISO 15156 and NACE MR0175?

  • NACE MR0175 is a standard developed by the American Society of Corrosion Engineers (NACE International).

  • ISO 15156 is the equivalent international standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

  • The initial and subsequent versions of NACE MR0175 specify the limit values for H2S partial pressures that need to be considered for the prevention of sulfide stress cracking (SSC), and also provide guidelines for the selection and specification of materials that are resistant to sulfide stress cracking when H2S limits are exceeded.

  • The ISO 15156 standard is divided into several parts, of which the first part mainly deals with the general principles for the selection of cracking resistant materials.
